Auriga is an Indonesian non-governmental organization that engages in an effort to conserve Indonesian natural resources and the environment to improve the quality of life of humankind. To achieve our goals, we are constantly carrying out investigative research, encouraging policy changes for better natural resources and environmental governance, as well as doing advocacy through legal mechanisms. Our organization welcomes everybody from any place to work with us, particularly those who have the same ideas and visions as us.
Auriga was established on 12 November 2009 under the name of Yayasan Silvagama. The latter was approved by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights on 27 April 2010 and four years later became Auriga through the help of notary Rini M. Dahliani, SH. The name change was approved by the same ministry with the decree No. AHU-60.AH.01.05.Tahun 2014 on 23 July 2014.
The idea of establishing the organization initially came from its founder and colleagues’ interest in exploring Indonesian natural places. In the process, the reality of poverty and severe exploitation of natural resources strengthened the motivation to jump in and do something to save the environment.
