FGD: REVIEWING ISPO PERFORMANCE

AURIGA -  Friday, January 24, 2020 - Auriga Nusantara held a focused group discussion (FGD) evaluating the Performance of ISPO (Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil). The FGD was attended by academics from various universities, namely the University of Sumatera Utara (USU), University of Indonesia (UI), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), and Palangkaraya University (Unpar).

The ISPO Performance Study is relevant considering that ISPO is not only an effort to improve oil palm, but it also has become a tool of government diplomacy. However, as happened in the timbers legality verification system (SVLK) which often used as an ISPO model (diplomacy), its performance is still lacking any measurement. Thus, the ISPO Performance Study is expected to provide input on future ISPO improvements.

A series of meetings outlining the framework and methodology study are going to be carried-out next. Meetings with stakeholders will also be held in the hope that acceptance of this study will be open. (*)
